In order to effectively implement a strategic approach to electronic records management, one that ensures McGill’s digital legacy is readable, authentic and reliable over time, the McGill University Archives is developing a plan for Phase II.
Phase II proposes a strategic approach to electronic records management to ensure McGill’s digital legacy is readable, authentic and reliable over time. Among the key elements of Phase II is a proposed document management initiative in collaboration with the University’s information technology sector.
The University Archives’ continued development of
digitalpermanence Phase II will also apply new records retention rules (decreasing costs associated with maintaining records of no enduring value), and review, approve and disseminate electronic records policy and best practice guidelines.
