2006 Remembrance of Wellington MF509

Wales: "Arwel, John and I paid a visit to MF509 last Sunday to witness the service that takes place there each remembrance Sunday. It was my first such visit and I wasn't surprised to see about 40 people arrive to pay their respects to the crew of MF509.
The party that came with us from the Clwb Cerdded Ystalyfera last May arrived and they brought a wreath of poppies which was placed at the memorial. One of their party played the "Last Post" - he didn't have a bugle but brought a trombone instead and he did a fine job. The party also planted a lot of daffodil bulbs beside some nearby rocks, so next spring another little tribute may be present.
Another group of walkers, about 25 in number arrived and they held their own service of remembrance, placing little crosses at the memorial.
Arwel took quite a few photos, and I'm sure he will send them to you.
The occasion was quite moving and I'm certain that the Canadian relatives would have been impressed and moved."

Bill Grey in a letter to Wes Cross, 13 November 2006.
