Father Claude Labrècque and three boys, 1960. After living in Japan as a missionary, Father Labrècque returned to Montreal in 1950, establishing a kindergarten for Japanese Canadian children. With money donated by Cardinal Léger, Father Labrècque purchased a building located at 175 Sherbrooke Street East which, in 1953, became the Japanese Canadian Community Centre.
